Custom domain

Use your own web address

Without it: Your website keeps working on its free address.

Every website has a free address. You can also connect a domain you own, such as www.example.com. The bare domain (example.com) then forwards to it, and both count as one domain.

Steps

  1. 1Add your domain

    Open Domains with the button below and, under Add a custom domain, enter the www version of your domain (for example www.example.com), then press Add domain. We show the exact DNS records to add next.

  2. 2Add the DNS records

    Add the records shown on the Domains screen where your domain's DNS is managed, usually the company you bought it from:

    • Cloudflare: DNS → Records → Add record. Set the proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud).
    • GoDaddy: My Products → your domain → DNS → Add New Record.
    • Namecheap: Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Add New Record.
    • Squarespace Domains (formerly Google Domains): Domains → your domain → DNS → Custom records.
    • Hostinger: Domains → your domain → DNS / Nameservers → Add record.

    Copy each name and value exactly. Most providers add your domain to the name for you, so enter only the part before it if the field shows your domain already.

  3. 3Done

    We check the records every few minutes and turn on https automatically. It usually takes 5 to 30 minutes, sometimes a few hours.
