Checkout, orders, coupons and refunds

Know where payments go, how fulfillment is verified and how to handle refunds safely.

How checkout works

Customers purchase through your connected Stripe account. This is separate from the platform subscription you pay for the service. Complete the Stripe guide, select the correct mode and create a usable price for the paid product in that mode.

A successful browser return is not the only payment signal: payment notifications confirm and fulfill orders. If a customer reports payment without access, inspect Orders, the payment status and Stripe connection health before asking them to pay again.

Review an order

Open Orders, find the purchase and inspect its email address, product, amount, status and refund deadline. Use the order's access-link action to email a fresh My Products page link when appropriate. The exact email used at checkout matters; a different address does not automatically own the purchase.

A payment receipt is transactional. A buyer who did not consent to marketing must not be treated as a newsletter subscriber merely because they bought something.

Coupons

Use Coupons to manage the discounts supported by the connected Stripe setup. Review the form's amount or percentage, restrictions and any expiry shown before sharing a code. Coupons for your product customers are not the same as discounts on your platform subscription. Test the intended code and mode before publishing an offer; do not assume a code created elsewhere applies to every website or price.

Issue a refund

Owners and Admins can use the refund action on an eligible order, or the order action in the help desk. Read the confirmation, amount and deadline first: this is a real financial action through your Stripe account. Support-role members cannot issue refunds. The dashboard action requests a full refund; it is not a partial-amount editor. Use the displayed deadline to apply your policy, and check the order state and provider result before treating the refund as complete.

After requesting a refund, check the resulting order status. A request awaiting provider confirmation is not the same as a completed refund. Refund processing also affects product access; verify the order and entitlements instead of issuing a manual public file link.

Common failures

If checkout is unavailable, check publication, positive price, selected mode, linked price activity and key permissions. If events are missing, use Connections to repair payment notifications. Never paste a secret key, full payment details or an access token into a support ticket.
